Overview
KnoxCalls Night Watch sends transactional SMS messages — dispatch alerts and service notifications — to individuals who have explicitly opted in. SMS consent is always voluntary and is never a condition of enrollment or service.
Consent Principle
No SMS message is ever sent to a phone number that has not explicitly opted in. Consent is collected through one of two paths described below, depending on whether the recipient is the business owner enrolling in the service or an on-call contact added after enrollment.
How Consent Is Collected
Path 1 — At Enrollment
Service Enrollment Form
The business owner visits knoxcalls.com and submits the service access request form. SMS consent is optional and separate from the service signup:
- Phone number field is optional
- An unchecked SMS consent checkbox is displayed: "SMS Notifications (optional): I agree to receive SMS text messages from KnoxCalls Night Watch regarding dispatch alerts, service announcements, and account notifications."
- The form can be submitted with the checkbox unchecked — consent is not a condition of purchase
- If SMS consent is not given, notifications are delivered via email instead
Full disclosure language — message frequency, data rates, STOP/HELP instructions, and links to Privacy Policy and Terms of Service — is displayed directly below the checkbox.
Path 2 — Standalone Opt-In
SMS Opt-In Page
Any individual who will receive Night Watch SMS notifications — including on-call staff who were not part of the original enrollment — may provide consent through the dedicated opt-in page at knoxcalls.com/sms-opt-in.
- Entering name and mobile number
- Checking the explicit consent checkbox and clicking "Sign Up for SMS Updates"
- The checkbox is unchecked by default and consent is not a condition of service
Full disclosure language — message frequency, data rates, STOP/HELP instructions, and links to Privacy Policy and Terms of Service — is displayed directly below the checkbox.
Opt-In Flow
Owner Submits Form
The business owner visits knoxcalls.com/sms-opt-in
or the service enrollment form at knoxcalls.com, enters their name and mobile number,
checks the optional SMS consent checkbox, and submits.
Consent Recorded
The opt-in is logged with a timestamp. No SMS is sent to the number until
the owner's Night Watch account is active.
Messages Begin
Once active, the owner receives emergency dispatch alerts and service
notifications on their registered number. They can reply STOP at any time
to opt out.
Welcome SMS
The following confirmation is sent when the owner's account goes live:
KnoxCalls Night Watch: You're all set. Night Watch is active and monitoring your calls.
Msg freq varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
